A large grand cross in bronze gilt and silvered bronze, a red enamelled five point cross with clusters of faceted rays in each quadrant, the obverse medallion features a pebbled surface topped by a five point star, encircled by a ring bearing cron and a banner reading RPB (Republique Populaire du Benin Peoples Republic of Benin), the reverse features a vertical pin flanked by dual stays, pin marked with Arthus Bertrand maker mark,
